1957 Queen Street is a response to the desire for missing middle housing in key neighbourhoods of the City. The development, by a private individual, completely renovates and adds to a property that is in desperate need of an upgrade. In addition to a large addition to the rear, two floors were added to the top of the building that will be the residence of the Owner. This addition required two new exit stairs and an elevator. The elevator now makes the building fully accessible. Adherence to the Queen Street Urban Design Guidelines has resulted in a design with numerous large terraces overlooking Queen Street to the north and down to the lake on the south. To further make this a sustainable transit oriented project no additional parking was added but ample enclosed bike parking was provided.
